Rtn Melissa Ishimwe Sets Guinness World Record in Golf

The Rotary Club of Kigali Golf is immensely proud to celebrate Rtn Melissa Ishimwe Akanigi, who has officially set a Guinness World Record for the fastest unassisted round of golf by a woman, completing 18 holes in an extraordinary 52 minutes and 11 seconds at Kigali Golf Resort & Villas on 8 May.

Having taken up golf only in July 2023, Melissa’s achievement reflects remarkable discipline, resilience, and purpose. Completing the round entirely on her own, carrying her equipment and without assistance, she has not only broken a world record but also inspired young women across Rwanda and beyond to pursue bold ambitions. Her journey stands as a powerful reminder that with determination and belief, barriers can be broken and new paths created.

Melissa’s record places Rwanda firmly on the global golfing stage and reflects the values of excellence, perseverance, and service that Rotary stands for. As a Rotarian, entrepreneur, and trailblazer in a traditionally male-dominated sport, she embodies what it means to lead with courage and purpose, inspiring the next generation to dream bigger and aim higher.
