Rotary Walk Against Polio 2025: Standing Guard Until the Last Case

On Sunday, October 19, Rotary Clubs across Rwanda joined the Ministry of Health during Kigali’s Car-Free Day for the annual Rotary Walk Against Polio 2025, reaffirming their commitment to a polio-free world ahead of World Polio Day on October 24. The walk, which ran from BK Arena to the Kigali Convention Centre, served as a powerful reminder that vigilance remains essential despite Rwanda’s remarkable progress in polio eradication.

Health and Rotary leaders emphasized that while Rwanda has been polio-free since 2004 and maintains over 95% vaccination coverage, the disease remains a global threat if awareness and immunisation efforts weaken. The event also featured a moving testimony from Victor Zinda, who lives with a disability caused by polio, underscoring the importance of prevention, inclusion, and continued advocacy. Through collective action, Rotary and its partners continue to push forward—step by step—until the world is completely free of polio.
