RCKG Strategy Retreat 2025 – A Weekend of Vision, Fellowship, and Purpose.
The Rotary Club of Kigali Golf gathered at Serena Hotel, Gisenyi, from 3–5 October for its Annual Strategy Retreat, a weekend defined by reflection, renewed purpose, and an unwavering spirit of fellowship despite the rainy weather.
The retreat brought members together to review club progress, strengthen strategic priorities, and reconnect socially. It was also a special moment to welcome four guests who have committed to joining the club, highlighting RCKG’s continued growth and influence.
A Historic Moment for The Rotary Foundation at RCKG
One of the most remarkable achievements of the retreat was the club’s record-breaking support for The Rotary Foundation. In a single day, members pledged 15 Paul Harris Fellow (PHF) contributions and welcomed four new Rotary Benefactors, surpassing the annual target by a wide margin.
The induction of Rtn. Alphonse who became a PHF before his official induction marked a first in RCKG history, while Rtn PHF Shivon Byamukama was honored with her PHF pin and certificate during the induction dinner.
This milestone reflects a growing culture of generosity within the club, inspired by the leadership of Foundation Director PHF Julie Mutoni. Her dedication continues to galvanize members toward meaningful giving that fuels global, sustainable impact.
Leadership, Learning, and the Call to Think Global
A standout moment of the retreat was the keynote session by Past Assistant District Governor (PADG) Jean D’Amour, who challenged the club to elevate its vision beyond local borders. His message emphasized the essential role of the Rotary Foundation in enabling impactful, well-structured projects worldwide.
He shared insights on how grants work, the importance of executing tangible service projects, and strategies to prevent member fatigue by ensuring purposeful engagement.
His statement “Think global. Act global. Be an international Rotarian, not a local one.” resonated strongly with members and set the tone for the club’s direction in the year ahead.
