Gashora Water Project – Building Hope, One Drop at a Time (1st November 2025).
As part of the ongoing commitment to Service Above Self, the Rotary Club of Kigali Golf conducted a field visit to Journey House Actions Rwanda (JHA) in the Gashora Sector of Bugesera District. The visit marked a significant step in advancing a transformative initiative aimed at improving water accessibility for thousands of residents in the area.
During the visit, club members engaged with community leaders and JHA representatives to explore a potential Rotary Global Grant partnership. The grant would support the expansion of clean and reliable water access for more than 7,000 residents across Biryogo and Kagami Villages, communities that continue to face daily challenges in securing safe water.
The proposed Gashora Water Project is designed in two phases to maximize impact and sustainability:
- Phase 1: Extending the existing water supply system to reach 3,000 residents in underserved zones.
- Phase 2: Drilling a solar-powered borehole capable of delivering clean water to an additional 4,500 people, while ensuring long-term environmental and operational sustainability.
More than an infrastructure upgrade, this initiative embodies Rotary’s mission to create lasting, community-centered change. It also aligns with this year’s Rotary theme, Unite for Good, by reinforcing collective action and cross-club collaboration.
